BbNaija: HURMA Knocks Gov. Abiodun Over Laycon’s Ambassadorial Award, Others
The Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA) has condemned the recent decision of Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State for honouring winner of 2020 edition of Big Brother Naija (BbNaija, Olamilekan Moshood, popularly called Laycon, Youth Ambassador.
HURMA also condemned Governor Abiodun’s donation of a three-bedroom bungalow, cash sum of N5 million and his celebration, describing it as a ‘total misplaced of privileges’.
The human rights group has consequently called on Governor Abiodun, to tender unreserved apology to all youths in the country, saying that such gesture will expose and impact negatively on Nigeria youths.
HURMA’s condemnation of Governor Abiodun’s acts are contained in a statement issued today, by its Executive Director, Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak.
HURMA’s statement reads in parts: “this is a total misplacement of privilege as none of the young, morally upright and hardworking intelligent youth in the nation has ever been such celebrated to further encourage their academic pursuits and moral uprightness.
“This Laycon as a person whose moral decadence is been openly condemned on a social media discussion titled “LYCON AND NENGI GOES WILD AT JACUZZI”.
“With this action, the Governor of Ogun State has either simply demonstrated to the world, the moral texture he is made up of or wrongly advised by the choice of taking a negative moral BBNaija champion as a Youth Ambassador.
“More so, Governor Dapo has demonstrated to the electorates that the leadership has gone to the dogs. This singular executive recklessness has completely demystified governance in Ogun State that is known for industry, excellence and discipline. By his latest actions, hedonism has been placed in a front burner as a directive principle of state policy in Ogun state.
“He must therefore be reminded that those properties he gave out belongs to the good and industrious people of Ogun State and therefore be withdrawn with immediate effect. The state resources given to a morally bankrupt Laycon could be better invested by establishing over 100 youth in Ogun State on agriculture.
Governor Dapo Abiodun is finally expected to apologize to not only the youth of Ogun State but also the entire national Youth”.
