Safe Birth: Lagos First Lady Charges Mothers On Use of Health Facilities
The wife of Lagos State governor, Dr. (Mrs) Ibidapo Sanwo-Olu, has advised expectant mothers to make use of government’s health facilities for their safety and survival of their unborn and newborn child.
Dr. Sanwo-Olu gave the advice at the inauguration of Maternal and Newborn Child Adolescent Health (MNCAH) week, held at Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Lagos, today, Friday.
MNCAH’s Week is been held twice in a year, with the aim of providing interventions and improving the health and survival of newborns, under-5 children, adolescents, pregnant women and mothers.
Flagging off year 2020 edition, First Lady, Dr. (Mrs) Sanwo-Olu, encouraged mothers to always take their children to government health facilities to access the health interventions provided for them for free.
In order to improve the number of women reached with contraceptive services, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) supported the Lagos State Ministry of Health to implement temporary fixed posts in the communities of each of the 376 wards in the state to serve as outreach points for women and men that are unable to go to health facilities, in order to access contraceptives and child spacing services.
