Justice Tanko Muhammad Resigns As CJN, As Justice Ariwoola Tales Over As Acting CJN
The Nigeria’s Chief Judge, Justice Tanko Muhammad has resigned.
Justice Tanko, according Channels Television, resigned on Sunday night on the grounds of ill-health.
When contacted, the Special Adviser on Media and Communication to CJN, Ahuraka Yusuf Isah, said, “All I know is that he’s going to declare open a workshop this morning at the NJI (National Judicial Institute).”
Other attempts to reach close associates of the CJN, such as Dr Mike Ozekhome (SAN), proved abortive as they didn’t take their calls.
Meanwhile, Justice Olukayode is to take over the affairs of the country’s judicial system, as Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria Ariwoola (CJN).
Justice Ariwoola, according to the Leadership Newspaper, will later today Monday be sworn-in as the next Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) after the sudden resignation of Justice Tanko Muhammad from the exalted Judicial position.
If he eventually takes over, Ariwoola is billed to leave the Judicial service in 2028.
Meanwhile, the Presidency has so far kept mute about the happenings in the Judicial arm of government in the past few days.
