Justice O. O. Abike Fadipe, a judge in Lagos State judiciary, is bereaved, as his father, Chief Babatunde Olusola Benson (SAN) passed on yesterday night.

Chief Benson, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) from Ikorodu part of Lagos State, would have been 89 years by July 4, 2021.

Breaking the news of his demise to the newsdishng.com, one of his Son-in-laws, Mr. Adewale Fadipe, also a legal practitioner, said the Silk passed on in a private hospital.

His death was announced by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Shotobi Ayangburen. Chief Benson held the traditional title of Asiwaju of Ikorodu. He died today, Thursday June 24, 2021.

Chief Benson was born in Ikorodu to the popular Benson family on July 4, 1932. He was called to the English bar in 1959. His enrollment number in Nigeria’s Supreme Court as Solicitor and Advocate was 38. When he came back to Nigeria, he later joined the law firm of his uncle, TOS Benson SAN where he eventually rose to the position of the Head of the Chambers.
