A statement issued by OGWAMA’s Spokesman, Rotimi Oduniyi, said the commendation became necessary after monitoring this Saturday’s Ogun state Environmental Sanitation Exercise in Ijebu-Ode as residents gave their waste to Private Sector Participants (PSP) that were on ground, instead of dumping them on the medians and roadsides like in previous exercises.

He charged them to consolidate on this new way as it’s the right thing to do, as dumping of waste on median, roadsides and other unauthorised places are against the new waste managementreforms of the State government.

He equally urged those who are still not patronizing the PSP assigned to their areas to do so without further delay, so that they can enjoy the benefits therein instead of waiting for the monthly sanitation exercise to dispose off their waste or in the alternative dump them on the streets saying the act is not promoting heathy  living and environmental cleanliness.

Mr Oduniyi also charged the residents not to dump refuse in some illegal blackspots such as Lagos Garage, Olisa street, Ondo-Benin Road, Hospital Road among others recently cleared by the State government, as Waste Police will be on vigilance to arrest and prosecute anyone that dump refuse in the cleared areas.
