Police Charged Man For Adulterating MFM’s Anniversary Clothes

A 35 years old man, Egwuonwu David, was today, arraigned before an Igbosere Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly adulterate the clothing material for 30 years anniversary of Mountain Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Lagos..

The defendant according to the prosecuting police officer, Morufu Animashaun, the Legal Officer of Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (ForceCIID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, committed the offence, with others now at Large, between December 2019 and January 30, 2020, at the Church’s headquarters, 1 and 3, Olasimbo Street, Onike, Iwaya, Lagos.

Animashaun told the court that the defendant also unlawfully dealt in the selling of the Church’s anniversary clothes material without authority from the church.

The prosecuting police officer, also informed the court that the defendant on January 30, 2020, at Etche Road Shopping Complex, Aba, Abia State, obstructed the police officers who were on official duty to arrest him when the matter was reported to the police.

The offences according to Animashaun, are contrary to and punishable under sections 411, 160(b) and 117 of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Following the defendant’s not guilty plea, the prosecutor urged the court to remand him in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS), till the determination of the charge.

Animashaun told the court that his request was premised on the attempt to resist arrest by the defendant and that he may jump bail if granted.
The prosecutor however said that I’d the court is mindful of granting bail to the defendant, it should be with terms that will ensure his attendance in court.

But counsel to the defendant, Joseph Ochu and Mrs. B. Nwaigwe, urged the court to admit bail to their client, because the charge against his is a bailable one and assured that he will always present in court till the determination of the charge.

Ruling on the bail application, the presiding magistrate, Mrs. O. O. Osin, admitted him to bail in the sum N500, 000, 00 with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties according to the must be residents of Lagos State, with three tax payable to Lagos State government, means of livelihood.

Mrs. Oshin, while adjourning the matter till March 19, 2020, for mention, ordered that the defendant be remanded in the custody of NCS pending the fulfilment of the bail terms.
