Rotary Female President Tasks Youths On Role Models
Youths in the country have been advised to have role models that will mold their lives for better rather than engaging in the acts capable of destroying their beings.
The advice was given by Rotarian Oluwafunke Oluwa, President of Rotary Club of Lagos Mainland, during the Club’s Charter Day Celebration and fund raising for projects, held last Sunday.
Rotarian Oluwa, who is the first female president, nicknamed by other Club members as Change maker President, being the first female president of Rotary Clubs of Lagos Mainland, during the event, also encouraged Nigerians to always reach out to those in need, this she said will go along way in reducing rate of suicide and other vices among Nigerians.

Rotarian Oluwa who described being the club’s first female president as a tasking one, however commended the club’s past presidents and members for giving her necessary support to lead the club for the next one year.
She said; “it’s so tasking being the first female president at first, but now I see it as something am privileged to and to prove my worth of leadership due to the fact that I’ve resources and the past presidents that are well to do, they put me through, that make the works more so easier for me.
“It’s enjoying because I’ve people around me make a soft-landing for me, all I’ve to do is to preside. It’s a collective decision making, it’s a tasking one but, since I have resourceful people around you, that make the works easier”.
On the need for the youths to have role models, she said; “the youths should have role models that will impact positively on them. They should also have plans for themselves, because all these vices they’re emulating will not take them to anywhere and the end product is always disructive. They should look inward to what they can do and see how they can be a better person and that will go along way”.
Also speaking at the event, the club’s President-Elect for 2022/2023, Rotarian Muyideen Asanike, in his welcome address seeks support from well wishers and Nigerians at large to enable the Club implement commendable projects that would benefit everyone.
The Club’s District Governor, Rotarian Remi Bello and Past District Governor, Dr. Olajide Akeredolu, in their speech, commended the remaining founding members of the Club for their commitment and ensuring that the Club has more members that they have now.
They also advised all members of the club to be up and doing in all the club’s activities in other to ensure that the club produce the next District Governor.
During the event, the Club bestowed on some individuals awards of excellence and appreciation, among them are: Otunba Olufemi Shadamoro; Alex Bolaji Omorodion; Honourable Bashiru Omolaja Bolarinwa; Alhaja Kafilat Bakare; Otunba Tomori Williams and many others.
