SMEDAN Tasks Youths On Entrepreneurship For Wealth Creation

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) on Thursday urged youths to embrace entrepreneurship as a way of creating wealth for themselves and the country. 

Mrs Julian Fashola who represented the SMEDAN state coordinator, Ibadan, urged the youths during the second edition of the Academic and Entrepreneurship Summit, tagged Creavation 1.0. held at the University of Ibadan.

The theme of the summit is ‘Unlocking Creativity for Global Dominance.” 

The summit was organized by Firstclass Edge Hub, founded by Mr. Israel Alabi.

Fashola encouraged the youths to engage in one entrepreneurial skill or the other as a means of wealth creation and by extension to the country.

She said having a small or medium business would go a long way at eradication poverty in the country.

The Coordinator, Nigerian Export and Promotions Council (NEPC), Mrs Bolanle Emmanuel, during her speech, also discussed different means through which entrepreneurial youths can position themselves for exports.

Earlier, the convener, Alabi, encouraged youths to adopt a learning mindset and prepare their writing materials because the facilitators were prepared to teach, train and transform. 

He explained the decision to catalyse a global mindset in youths as very critical in times like these when their competitors were not from their village or city, but countries like the USA and China.

Other guest speakers at the summit were Ambassador Merlyn Tamunoemi, Founder of iBoost Personality International, Mr Temitope Ilesanmi, Head of Operations and Recruitment at Profound Impact Consults.

Others are Miss Stella Adebayo, Founder, Bizgrant Global  and Miss Elizabeth Samuel, an award-winning Book Editor.

The summit was attended by over 300 youths within and outside Ibadan.
