Suretyship: Court Convicts, Jails Self-Promoted GL 14 Officer

A self-appointed Grade Level 14 Officer,  Odutola Sherifat Oyinkansola, has been convicted and sentenced to a year Imprisonment by an Ikeja Special Offence Court, Lagos for forgery. 

The 40 years old Convict, who is a Grade Level 7 Officer, in one of the Lagos State’s Ministry, was given the jail term by Justice Sherifat Solebo, today, for forging documents which she used in claiming to be a Grade Level 14 Officer.

The Convict was charged before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for using the forged documents as a Grade Level 14 Officer, to stand surety for a Suspect arrested by the EFCC.

Justice Solebo had convicted the self-acclaimed Grade Level 14 Officer,after she had please guilty to the forgery charge made against her.

Upon her guilty plea to the nine count information dated April 29, 2021 before the court upon her arraignment, Justice Sherifat Solebo while delivering her judgment, sentenced the defendant to a one year prison term.

The prosecutor, Samuel O. Daji, while presenting the facts of the charge to court said the Convict forged a document purporting herself to be one Rasaki Wasiu Adeyiga a Level 14 Civil Servant, working at Massey Street Children’s Hospital while she was just a Level 7 Civil Servant.

 
The charge against the convict reads;  “that u Odutola Sherifat Oyinkansola on abourt the 29th day of March 2021, at Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court forged a document titled “Letter of Introduction Miss. Odutola Sherifat Oyinkansola – Principal Data Proc. Officer GL: 14 with Reference number MSCH/112/VOL.II/302 purportedly issued by Massey Street Children’s Hospital which you submitted to the officers of Economic and Financial Crime Commission to secure the ball of one Rasaki Wasiu Adeyiga”.
