Waste Cart Pushers Are Banned In Ogun For Citizens’ Safety -Ola Oresanya
Ogun State government has attributed security risk been constituted by the waste cart pushers, as one of the reasons banning their operation in the State, saying that recent security report had indicted them of complicity in crimes across the state.
Aside from their security risk been constituted by the waste cart pushers, they were also accused the waste of defacing the aesthetic beauty of the state by their indiscriminate dumping of refuse on medians and unauthorized places, the development the State government described as ‘a good riddance to a bad rubbish’.
The was made known in a release issued by Mr. Ola Oresanya, the Special Adviser to the Ogun State government on Environment and Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun State waste management Authority.
To this end, he said the activities of the waste cart pushers operating in the State has been banned with immediate effect.
Oresanya, a former Managing Director of Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) also stated that any waste cart pusher caught operating henceforth in the state will be arrested and his cart crushed.
He called on the residents of the state to patronize Waste PSP in their area for prompt, effective and structured service. Adding that the new waste management economic programmes of waste reduction, waste use and waste recycling of the state government are already providing employment opportunities for the youths and the women across the state.
Part of the release reads: “recent security report had indicted them of complicity in crimes across the state.
‘While operating, our people innocently opened their premises and commercial outlets to them for evacuation of their wastes but unknowingly to them, these cart pushers, who are mostly foreigners collate vital information on how to compromise the security of their premises and pass them to the men of the underworld and sometimes join them to rob and terrorize our people.
“Aside from their security risk, their act deface the aesthetic beauty of the state by their indiscriminate dumping of refuse on medians and unauthorized places saying their exit is a good riddance to a bad rubbish.
“I therefore called on the residents of the state to patronize Waste PSP in the area for prompt,effective and structured service. Adding that the new waste management economic programmes of waste reduction,waste use and waste recycling of the state government are already providing employment opportunities for the youths and the women across the state.
“Henceforth any waste cart pusher caught operating in the state will be arrested and his cart crushed”.
