Suspended DCP Kyari & Hishpuppi
FG Loses Bid To Extradite Suspended DCP Abba Kyari
The Nigeria government today, failed in its bid to extradite the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, to United States of America (USA), as an Abuja Federal High, declined the extradition application filed by the Federal Government.
The court presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a judgment delivered today, while dismissing the application, held that the extradition application was an abuse of court process, on the grounds that Kyari was already standing a criminal trial before a Nigerian court.
The America government had applied to its Nigerian counterpart for Kyari’s extradition in relation to his alleged link with an international fraudster, Ramon Abbas (hushpuppi), who has been convicted by a court in America.
The United States Attorney’s Office for Central District of California, Los Angeles, confirmed last week, that hushpuppi will be sentenced on September 21, 2022.
