Defilement; Popular Nollywood Actor, Baba Ijesha Arrested

The Lagos State Police Command said it has arrested a popular Nollywood actor, Olarenwaju James ‘m’ 48, aka Baba Ijesha, for allegedly defiling a 14 years old minor.

The police through its Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement issued today, said th case against the actor was reported on April 19, 2021, by one Princess Adekola Adekanya at Sabo Police Station and transferred to the Gender Unit of the State CID, Panti, Yaba Lagos for proper investigation

Adejobi a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) said based on preliminary findings, the actor started sexually assaulting the victim, 14 years, since she was 7 year old. The suspect confessed to the crime and was also captured by a CCTV camera in the house of the complainant.

The PPRO also stated that Mr. Hakkem Odumosu, ths State’s Police Commissioner, has ordered full and proper Investigation into the matter, while also promised that Justice will be done.

The statement reads in part: “the Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Olarenwaju James ‘m’ 48, aka Baba Ijesha, popular Nollyhood actor for defiling a minor

“The case of defilement was reported on 19th April, 2021 by one Princess Adekola Adekanya ‘f’ at Sabo Police Station and transferred to the Gender Unit of the State CID, Panti, Yaba Lagos for proper investigation

“Based on preliminary findings, the suspect started sexually assaulting the victim, 14 years, since she was 7 year old. The suspect confessed to the crime and was also captured by a CCTV camera in the house of the complainant. 

“The Commissioner of Police,Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered for proper investigation as he promised to do justice in the matter”.
