The Methodist Prelate, according to information, was in Owerri, the Imo State capital with the Bishop of Owerri Diocese who was kidnapped with him and his Chaplain.

The Methodist cleric and others that were kidnapped with him are said to be in good and stable medical condition..

Abia Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Geoffery Ogbonna confirmed their release.

According to Ogbonna, Rev. Kanu was released within the same Umunneochi Area where he was kidnapped.

The Abia PPRO stated the speedy release of the Methodist Church Nigeria leader was not unconnected with efforts of men and officers of tactical units of the Command and other sister security agencies to nab the perpetrators.
